The very red and angular structure of the Serpentine Pavilion (designed by Jean Nouvel) seemed the perfect location for Apparatjik's art/music combo. Even the rain dripping through the joints couldn't dampen the excited buzz surrounding the cube.

Apparatjik themselves walked to the cube wearing identical red hoodies and massive cardboard cube-shaped heads and after a short animation featuring those cubeheads, they launched spectacularly into Arrow and Bow.

They rattled through a selection of the better album tracks (though Antlers and Electric Eye were noticably absent), slowing the pace at intervals for calmer audio/visual delights such as Frozen Fingers and Intermission.

Of course, there was more crazy headgear during the show; the usual tin foil antlers and plastic squares plus some spagetti hair for Martin. It was nice to be able to finally appreciate just how much of the vocal comes from Martin, after months of speculation on that point since the album release. And of course the half self-conscious, half madcap dancing was fun to watch in close-up :-)
