Apparatjik interview for Herbstradio 03/10/2010
![]() Apparatjik Pit Shultz for 'Herbstradio 99.1 FM Berlin' Apparatjik Interview: http://bit.ly/abNi1g In this fascinating Apparatjik interview the guys discuss the Berlin performance and the technicalities of playing inside the cube, their collective musical direction and influences and about how they are not-quite-a-prog-rock band. Excitingly, they also discuss possible future uses for the cube that may or may not involve music or even the Apparatjiks themselves. ![]() Photo by Matias Schuttenberg A sneak peek inside the cube filmed during the performance last month can be seen in this video. (source - thequietus) Another interesting interview can be found here courtesy of Danish online music mag, Gaffa. A (rough) translation into English can be found on our forum (thanks Denise) In other news, Sandbag has confirmed recently that orders of the t-shirt and the tee/vinyl bundle bought from theoutland should start being shipped this week. If you haven't ordered yours yet, well... get on with it before they all go. Don't forget, all orders made before June give you the chance of winning an exclusive art print, so what are you waiting for. Apparatjik on Lydverket (NRK1) tonight 02/10/2010
![]() Interviewer: "What is Apparatjik about?" Magne: "Errrr...we're not sure" Norwegian music programme Lydverket will tonight air the exclusive interview and backstage footage filmed at last week's Berlin gig. A clip is already available on their website with this article - Free from Coldplay and A-ha. Lydverket is on channel NRK1 at 23.15 tonight. edit: Watch the whole programme here. ![]() The whole album (minus Quiz Show) is now available for streaming on Apparatjik's myspace page, including two new versions of Look Kids; Look Kids (premix A) - 7.14min and Look Kids (premix AA) - 4.24min A video for Datascroller has also been added to their youtube channel. It seems a shame after all the hard work that clearly went into it, but the UnCode game seems to have been a wee bit overlooked in the album/gig excitement. The game starts here and is a kind of internet maze. It has plenty of interesting photos scattered throughout and also several dead ends. Discuss your progress (and maybe pick up some hints and tips here) Berlin roundup 02/06/2010
This post will be an attempt to round-up some of the photos, reviews and videos from Apparatjik's first performance at the CTM.10 festival in Berlin earlier this week. ![]() From Lizzie: "as far as the actual gig... it was spectacular... lets just say guy has some crazy ass dance moves and his antlers almost fell off hahahahha they completely rocked snow crystals and got crazy at the end of it. lots of new songs, the only songs we already knew were snow crstals and frozen fingers. the rest was all new and sounding great!!!" "...once the cube started lighting up we knew the show was about to start. we were all right there about 2 feet from the cube and the sound was seriously amazing in that small room. They came on in the 2nd song and the shadows were crazy here I made out Guy's shadow first, he was on drums most of the time and dancing like a crazy ass mofo hahaha didn't know the boy could move like that LOL. The best dancing came during the end of Snow Crystals when they had some crazy antlers and hats and horns on. Then suddenly they had gotten a hold of a hair dryer or something that looked like that and they were just dancing like lunatic.... And Snow Crystals was by far the best song, they changed up the ending to it though and it ended in a blast! the audience went crazy when it ended with clapping and whistling." Some behind-the-scenes footage from the Lydverket feature can be seen here. Videos on youtube of the performance include Deadbeat, Supersonic Sound and Josie and you can see the cube in all it's beauty in the following video... ![]() Apparatjik's first live performance took place last night at Berlin's CTM.10 festival. According to Jonas the show was "as much an art performance as it was a concert". The band played inside a 'specially constructed' glass cube, the walls of which also served as projection screens for some of their visual effects. The roughly 40 minute long performance included the tracks Frozen Fingers, Snow Crystals and from the new album, Deadbeat, Josie and Arrow & Bow. Magne's other-band-mate, Morten Harket was present in the crowd and word has it that Coldplay collaborator, Davide Rossi was also there to add strings to the Apparatjik sound. The ever-helpful Alan from Aspire shared a few real-time photos via twitter; here's a selection: 1 - 2 - 3 ![]() The show was filmed for an as-yet-unspecified purpose, but it's possible this footage will be a part of the album's cd/dvd bundle. Norwegian media Lydverket were also present, following and interviewing the band and took some interesting band shots, like this one --> More details of this interview should be available next week. In the meantime, a few fan made vids of the show have already made it to youtube, see below: ![]() Apparatjik We Are Here: http://apparatjik.com/ The album has (finally) landed. Available now from Apparatjik's own online shop www.theoutland.com now in a digital format with artwork pdf. There is also a physical release cd/dvd package available to pre-order. (Pre-orders of the cd/dvd will get a free digital d/load version of the album immediately). The dvd package will contain videos and live footage, hopefully that footage will be from the first live performance tonight at CTM.10 in Berlin. ![]() Track Listing & artwork: 1. Deadbeat 2.
